My Rose

A single rose, painted in pastel with extraordinary attention to the architecture of the bloom — the spiral of petals, the gradient from deep center to bright edge, the way the outer petals curl back to catch the light. Roses have been painted by masters for centuries, and each generation must find its own way to the subject. This rose is distinctly Kayley's: full of warmth, faith, and careful observation.
