About the Artist

Emerging artist creating beauty and hope through oil and pastel paintings

Kayley Smith is an emerging artist working in oil and pastel, with a focus on Realism and Narrative Realism. Born in Wyoming and currently based in Alaska, Kayley's artistic journey began early and continues to flourish with natural talent and dedicated practice.

Kayley's gift for art was recognized in first grade when her teacher selected her work for the state art display. At age 9, after moving to Alaska, she began formal training with a local artist, learning to master oil painting. The medium came naturally to her, and by 14, she completed her first portrait and began teaching other students— sharing her gift and passion with others at just 14 years old.

Her talent has been recognized through consistent success at the Alaska State Fair, where she has placed in at least the top three since age 14, culminating in Best of Show at age 15. At 15, she also began exploring pastels, discovering a "good friend" to complement her first love—oil painting.

Her work is driven by a powerful mission: to remind people that there is beauty in a dark world. Through capturing moments in time, Kayley aims to tell stories that people can feel and give hope to the world. Her inspiration flows from her relationship with Jesus, infusing her art with purpose and meaning that extends beyond the canvas.

At 17 (turning 18 soon), Kayley is working to become known as an artist whose work speaks for itself— creating paintings that resonate with emotion, tell meaningful stories, and offer hope to those who view them.
